Fatty acids are the building blocks of oils in the same way that amino acids make up proteins. Myristoleic acid is a fatty acid, and when combined with a long chain alcohol molecule, cetyl alcohol, the result is an ester of this fatty acid, called Cetyl Myristoleate. All of these substances are found in nature. Myristoleic acid occurs in minim quantities of all fats and oils. Cetyl alcohol is derived from an environmentally friendly source, palmitic acid (a fatty acid in coconut and palm oils).
